Consultancy consists of a survey of the land including soil (top and sub-top); local climate; situation of the proposed garden and wishes of the client. We report our findings on the spot and send the client a summary of these findings. If the client wishes so we can develop a ‘rough plan' for discussion and thereafter finalize this plan with cost-estimate with a division in works, materials and plants.
Supply of waterwise plants:
Within a radius of approx. 150 km
During the past years we gained an extensive experience and expertise about waterwise (succulent) plants and also how and where (!!!) to purchase these.
From landscapers in the Cape Town area (also clients of our nursery) we know f.e. that 60 to 70 percent of the cacti sold in South Africa die within months due to (hidden) diseases; insufficient information by the nursery; traditional SA gardening practices and wrong location (soil; drainage; local climate; etc.) for the plant. Cacti f.e. don't grow “virtually anywhere” in South Africa . Better is to say that there is a cactus for virtually any place in South Africa . The same applies for succulents and drought resistant trees and shrubs that are indigenous to Southern Africa .
Soekershof supplies plants from the own small spin-off nursery plus from other (succulent) specialist nurseries with a proven record and dedicated nurserymen whose passion is their ‘babies'.
Other succulent nurseries we can recommend are a.o. Grey Heron in Durbanville, Obesa Nursery in Graaff-Reinet ( http://www.obesa.co.za ), Selecta Succulents in Brackenfell and Simply Indigenous in Skeerpoort.
