Spiritual Escape in South Africa

It seems that there are many more labyrinths and related ‘spiritual' activities/retreats/etc. than we originally thought. There is even a ‘spiritual academy'
in Stellenbosch where students are educated in many spiritual aspects of life
(spiritoflight@adept.co.za ).
Spirituality is very much alive. Maybe it has to do with the human need for religion without being part of one of the traditional western religions. Or is it an escape out of the daily ‘ratrace' of the modern society? We don't know and we do not want to know. What we do experience is that, once people fully open their heart for one or another form of spirituality –even if it's only a kind of entertainment such as a visit to Soekershof-: it will change their life ……. forever!!
Herewith a fully incomplete list of labyrinths (open for public) and other ‘spiritual enterprises' within South Africa . The original list of labyrinths has been compiled by Terry De Vries Nel ( spiritoflight@adept.co.za ) and Clare Wilson (clarewilson@yebo.co.za ) in september 2004 but we've added a few extra items and

updated existing listings. There are also numerous private labyrinths which are not open for the public. The same applies for mazes. There are private mazes in a.o. Paarl, Durbanville, Prince Albert , Durban and near J'burg.
