Philosophers Garden

Gardening is a kind of meditation. Well, that is how we experience our work. While working we think but not always -in fact: almost never- about the work itself. Let's say; we think about life. After, before and in between work we live our life; have a chat here and there, read a book, drink a glass of wine etc. etc.. And the next day, during the work, we think about what we've experienced, heard or read. Sometimes it results in a deep thought, a comparative, a proverb, aphorism or whatever. Some of them we've written in concrete tablets and these are scattered around in what we call our ' Philosopher Garden '. Not all are our own thoughts; quite a few are borrowed from people as Andy Warhol, George Burns and Kahlil Gibran. In the centre is a quiver tree with around 4 Japanese haiku's representing the 4 seasons and adapted to the South Africa situation. And the rest is fully our own and from our visitors although it can never be excluded that somebody else(where) also came to the same reflection.

The Philosophers Garden consists of more than 150 different shrubs, trees and

succulents plus a few hundred metres of pathways.
